BLOCKING FILE UPLOADS IN SLACK CONNECT

Slack Connect enables multiple organizations to work together in the same Slack channel. In an effort to make administrators comfortable enabling Slack Connect for their organization, various features can be enabled or disabled in cross-team conversations. One such feature is disabling file sharing when in a Slack Connect channel.

Slack did not have an existing pattern for disabling menu options, so we had to start fresh. Several approaches were taken to find the right balance of clarity, scalability, and accessibility.

DRAG ‘N DROP + MOBILE

Content also had to be created for the other entry points for uploading files, such as dragging a file into the channel, and uploading files and photos from a mobile device.
